Cookies

Why does a guide need cookies at all?
Barely. A cookie is a scrap of text your browser keeps on a website's behalf, letting the page recall a detail between clicks or between visits. We need exactly one of them to function sensibly. Two more are optional, and they stay switched off until you say otherwise.
Which ones do you set?
| Cookie | Job | Asks first? | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consent | Stores your banner answer, so you are asked once rather than on each page | No, it is essential | 12 months at most |
| Statistics | Adds up visits and page reads, never per person | Yes | 13 months at most |
| Campaign | Notes that a trip to Jokabet began with one of our links | Yes | 30 days at most |
The consent cookie
This is the only one we place without asking, and all it holds is your answer. It carries no name, no email and no identifier we could trace to you. Without it the banner would pester you on every page, which helps nobody.
The statistics cookie
With your agreement, an analytics tool reports how many people open each page, which sites sent them and whether they read on a phone or a computer. We use the totals to decide where the guide needs work, and we have told the tool to trim IP addresses before storing them. Following individual readers around is of no interest to us.
The campaign cookie
Some links lead to Jokabet via a partner programme. If you allow it, this cookie tells the programme the visit came through us, so the referral lands in the right place. It reveals nothing to us about who you are or what you do after you arrive. Say no, and the links still take you to the same pages.
What about cookies on other sites?
Jokabet, the helplines and any other site we link to run their own cookies under their own notices. Those are outside our view and our control, and Jokabet explains its own on its website.
How do I change my answer?
Scroll to the bottom of any page and press "Cookie settings". The banner comes back, and you can switch the optional cookies on or off. Turning them off stops us setting them from that moment.
Your browser can also delete cookies or refuse them outright. Refusing everything does no harm here; you will just meet the banner on each visit.
- iPhone and iPad: open Settings, go to Safari and choose Clear History and Website Data.
- Chrome: three-dot menu, then Delete browsing data.
- Firefox and Edge: look in the privacy part of the settings.
One tip from our own mishaps: wiping every cookie in the browser also logs you out elsewhere, Jokabet included. To reset only our banner, the footer button is the tidier option.
Why so few?
Because every extra script means another company watching the visit, and none of them would make a guide about logging in or cashing out any clearer. Heatmaps, ad pixels and share buttons were all on the table and all left off. If that ever changes, the new cookie goes into the table first and waits for your permission like the rest.
Where can I read more?
The wider picture of what we hold is on the privacy page. If a cookie puzzles you, ask us by email, and the main guide is where you left it.
